What's Xaye up to?

Sugar in the Morning, Sugar...

in the evening, sugar at suppertime. Well actually Xaye is a pretty much sugar-free kid, except for whatever sugar is in the fruits he eats. This evening however, was an exception. We went over to Mike and Linda's for a dinner/birthday party. Xaye is now at the age that he wants to eat whatever he sees someone else eating, even if he isn't hungry. Since everyone was chowing down on cake, ice cream cupcakes, etc. Xaye took it upon himself to ask everyone for a bite. Not knowing that Xaye will NEVER stop asking for food on his own, they kept feeding him more and more sugar. He loved it at the time. But now he is paying the price. He is tossing and turning in his crib, probably with visions of ice cream cake attacking him.

Luckily, he doesn't get out much, so he will be back on his wholesome diet tomorrow...

But this IS my best deadpan!

I have relished my ability to completely IGNORE so much attention seeking behavior with kids. It's hard to concede, but I admit I have met my match.

When Xaye is doing something ridiculous it takes EVERY FIBER of my being not to break my 'disciplinary deadpan'. I find myself looking away time and time again so he won't see my laugh.

They say it is different with your own kid. Ok, I keep finding that it is - but really, how do you explain this to someone? I mean, LOOK AT THAT FACE!

Today we also experienced a new and exciting THREE syllable word.

yes folks, this is the day that our son uttered the word brocolli. I know Bubbe is tickled pink!
