What's Xaye up to?

Does this qualify as conversation?

Just returned from New Mexico. While I was visiting Bubbe and Foffe, I called to check in with Pop and Xaye.

Xaye talked nonstop. It was an eerie experience, because I realized he was speaking in full sentences - but he talked SO fast that I couldn't get all of the information. In those moments I could hear his '4 year old' self talking to me - and i was overwhelmed with joy and anticipation as he balances on the precipice of dialogue.

The past several months have been incredible times of transition - Xaye is comfortably sleeping in a bed, no longer wears diapers - even at night (as of about 2 weeks ago), helps clear the table, helps clean the house (tea tree oil and water), has his own broom, rake, and plants to tend...

he reminds me of things - mama, remember to feed the birds.

Mama. we have to find Dora - she is missing.

Mama, I need to flush the potty.

Mama, it's time for yoga - turn on the music.

He is a creature of routine. He insists on sharing his revelations and reviewing what he has learned and discovered. He can tell when you are 100% in tune - and when you are not.

Mama, I can't whistle. Clap your hands like this.

Mama, are you going to share? I am sharing.

Every day I find that this family is the center of the universe. This life is so much more fulfilling than any other experience I have ever had. Parenting with Jerome is a joy and I am grateful for his patience and perseverance.

I want to do this 100 times over.

So ends this monologue....
